Fire ban to be lifted

Effective 12:01 a.m., on Saturday, May 16, 2020, the imposed restricted fire zone, inclusive of the municipality of Sault Ste. Marie, will be lifted.
 
Sault Fire Services would like to remind all citizens to burn with caution and follow the provisions of open-air burning for the Municipality of Sault Ste. Marie. A valid fire permit is required to burn. 
Due to the long weekend, the administrative office is closed. Residents that require to burn are reminded to follow the guidelines for burning within Sault Ste. Marie.
 
The guidelines can be found here. In order to renew or obtain a new fire permit, please call during regular office hours of 9:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, (705) 949-3333. During the COVID Pandemic, we encourage payment for permits over the phone by credit card. 
 
Certified propane and natural gas fire pits, fireplaces, and/or fire tables do not require an open-air burning permit.
