Celebrate Culture Days September 29 and 30

Culture Days is a national event dedicated to providing Canadians with opportunities to participate in and appreciate all forms of arts and culture. Through an annual weekend celebration each September, hundreds of artists and cultural organizations across the country come together and invite Canadians to participate in free interactive activities to raise awareness of arts and culture of their communities.

Culture Days will take place in Sault Ste. Marie on September 29 and 30 and will feature free, hands-on, interactive activities for the whole family. A schedule of events includes:
  • 10:00 a.m. - Flag raising ceremony at the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site
  • 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - The Centennial Library, The Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site and The Art Gallery of Algoma will have multicultural arts, crafts and activities including:
    • Paint like the Group of Seven workshop
    • The Bondar Challenge Photo Contest
    • CAP Karaoke
    • Face Painting with Laura Nelson
As part of Culture Days, The Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site will also be hosting Fall Rendezvous featuring historical encampments, British soldiers, voyageurs and couriers de bois, hands-on activities and demonstrations, as well as Harvest Festival activities and foods, from September 27 to 30.

Be sure to stick around for the Downtown Heritage Block Party starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29. The block party features live music, Makers Market, historical storytelling, a Sault Ste. Marie Museum exhibit and walking tours.
