Partnering with Parks Canada
In 1995, the City of Sault Ste. Marie and Parks Canada entered into a collaborative agreement to operate and maintain the new recreational lock at the Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site of Canada. Over the years a strong partnership has developed between our two organizations as we work cooperatively to maintain this important community and national asset. The National Historic Site with its lock is a valuable part of the City's waterfront and an important cultural link to the historic fabric of the the City.
