Community Development Award
Each year local projects are undertaken which represent a significantly better standard of development than the community norm. These projects often include unique characteristics that benefit the entire community. Both private and public organizations are eligible to receive the award.
The Community Development Award is specifically intended to:
Recognize significant achievement in community development;
Highlight successful development ideas that others can use;
Inspire other projects to meet the standards set by successful projects.
The following criteria are used to evaluate projects:
Enhancement of the visual quality of the built environment
Enhancement or protection of the natural environment
Reduction of pollution and its effects
Maximizing employment and earning opportunities
Encouragement of private investment
Minimizing transportation costs
Availability to a variety of people and income groups
Ensuring safety of residents
Accessibility to people with disabilities
Heritage preservation
Any other items as may be relevant
The winner of the Community Development Award will be presented with a bronze plaque at a Council Meeting.
